We Turned Our Cybertruck Into a Campsite at X Takeover 2026
X Takeover is one of our favorite weekends of the year. It's a lot packed with Cybertrucks, Teslas, and vendor tents, and a crowd of people who love these vehicles as much as we do. This year we wanted to do more than just show up. We wanted to live there for the weekend. So we packed up our Cybertruck, rolled in, and turned our parking spot into a full campsite.
We filmed the whole thing as a silent camp vlog: no narration, just the setup, the food, the coffee, and the event itself. Here's a look at how it came together and the gear that made our Cybertruck camping setup work.

Camp Goes Up: Stargazer Tent and 270 Awning (00:00)
We start the video the same way we start every trip: by popping up the shelter. The CyberCamp Stargazer rooftop tent rises straight up out of the Urander Bed Cap, so our sleeping space is ready to go right on top of the truck.
Next comes the Urander 270 Awning. It lives in a black bag on the passenger side of the bed cap, and it swings out to shade the passenger side and the tailgate. That covered area became the center of our camp for the whole weekend.
Building a Private Room with the Awning Wall (01:30)
With shade sorted, we unloaded our gear and attached the Awning Wall. The black and grey walls zip and Velcro onto the 270 Awning, and they turn the open space beside the truck into a fully enclosed private room. At a busy event like X Takeover, it was great to have a space that felt like ours. We used it for cooking, hanging out, and keeping our gear out of sight.
The Camp Kitchen and Truck Bed Interior (04:38)
This is the part of the setup we get asked about most. The bed cap's side panels open upward, which gives easy access to everything inside from outside the truck. Inside, a drop-down MOLLE grid panel on the ceiling keeps small items organized and within reach. Interior sliding rails carry a slide-out stove and prep surface, so we can cook without climbing into the bed.
Next to the truck, we set up a Snow Peak IGT-style modular kitchen table with a sink, a burner, and bamboo boards. That gave us a real counter to work on. A Dometic CFX fridge rides in the bed to keep food and drinks cold, and an Exped sleeping mat in the bed adds one more spot to stretch out.
Night Falls: Sliders and Bedding (07:45)
As the sun went down, we made up the bed inside the Stargazer and got dinner going. On the menu: sliders, cooked in a Cuisinart air fryer toaster oven right inside the awning wall room. Hot food, a private space, and our bed waiting overhead made for a pretty great first night of Cybertruck camping.
The "Living Room": Screens Everywhere (08:53)
Camping doesn't mean you have to give up movie night. We mounted a tablet inside the Stargazer, set another tablet on the fridge, and hung a monitor from the bed cap ceiling. The truck bed and tent felt less like a campsite and more like a cozy living room.
Staying Cool with EcoFlow (11:35)
To keep the tent comfortable, we set an EcoFlow Wave portable AC on the tonneau and routed its duct through a side port into the Stargazer tent. An EcoFlow power station kept everything running, from the AC to our screens and kitchen gear. This is where Cybertruck overlanding gets really fun: a little planning and the right power setup go a long way toward a comfortable night's sleep.
Morning Espresso Under the Awning (13:00)
No camp morning is complete without coffee. We ground our beans with a 1Zpresso hand grinder and pulled shots with an Outin portable espresso maker. Of course, some grounds ended up where they shouldn't, so a Fanttik portable vacuum took care of the cleanup in seconds. Small luxuries like this are what make a weekend at camp feel like a getaway.
Dinner Is Served: Galbijjim (14:33)
For our big dinner, we went all in with galbijjim, Korean braised short ribs. It's a dish you might not expect at a car event, but with a full camp kitchen at hand, there's no reason to settle for less. It was easily one of the highlights of the trip.
X Takeover 2026 Highlights and the Drone Show (15:41)
We close out the video with the event itself. The lot was full of Cybertrucks, Teslas, and vendor tents, and it was amazing to walk around and see what everyone in the community had brought. Then the night ended with a drone show that formed a Cybertruck silhouette, the X logo, and the word "TAKEOVER" across the sky. It was the perfect way to wrap up X Takeover 2026.
